Other Emergency Procedures
These Emergency procedures cover the following possible occurrences:
1. Bomb threats
2. Serious Accident/Illness
3. Tornado warning
4. Power failure Elevator Failure
5. Civil disturbance
The Property Management staff and security will coordinate all emergency procedures from the Management Office.
1. Bomb Threat
If you receive a bomb threat call, attempt to get as much information form the caller as possible. (Where is the bomb? When is it set to explode? What type of bomb is it? Why did you place the bomb? Etc.)
Call Property Management at 770/434-0571. Property Management will notify the Police and a search will begin immediately and Tenant Wardens will be notified immediately. If no bomb is found, the decision to evacuate will be left to the tenants. Elevators will be left on. If a bomb is found, Police Department officials along with Property Management and Security will direct an evacuation using the fire evacuation procedures.
2. Serious Accident/ Illness
Upon seeing a serious accident or illness, the tenant should:
A. Call for an ambulance at 911. Be sure to give proper address, building and floor.
B. Call Property Management at 770/434-0571. Security officers will be dispatched to give assistance and secure elevators for use by paramedics.
3. Tornado
Emergency messages and directions will be transmitted over the telephone.
Each individual should:
A. Get away from the perimeter area of the building and exterior glass.
B. Leave your exterior office and CLOSE THE DOOR.
C. Sit down in an anterior corridor and protect your head.
D. Do not attempt to evacuate the building unless instructed to do so by Security or the Property Management Office.
If you are in transit in the building, take stairwell to the lowest floor for shelter.
DO NOT USE ELEVATORS!
If you are caught in an outside office, seek protection under a desk as far away from glass as possible.
4. Power Failure
Cumberland Office Park buildings are equipped with battery powered lighting to provide sufficient lighting in the event of a primary power failure and will be available to permit a calm and orderly evacuation should it be necessary.
Note: These emergency lights are for emergency evacuation only as they will last no more than 90 minutes.
5. Elevator Failure
If you are caught inside an elevator:
A. Be calm.
B. Press the button inside the phone box to communicate with the monitoring company. A repairman will be dispatched and Security will remain in frequent voice contact to keep you informed of the situation.
C. Do not try to force the elevator doors open. This could slow down the repair process.
If you observe a malfunctioning elevator from outside, please inform Property Management at (770) 434-0571
6. Civil Disturbance
Although riots and civil disturbances are rare, there is still a need for a planned course of action. Should a disturbance start outside of the building, the security officer posted to that area will immediately secure all entrances to the building and notify the Property Management Office. The Cobb County Police will then be called.
Based on the assessed atmosphere of the disturbance, a decision will be made by Property Management to notify the tenants.
In the event of a disturbance in a tenant's office or on the premises thereof, Property Management and security will provide assistance to the tenant. However, the decision to call any law enforcement to a tenant's area will be left to the tenant.
